Do it With Style, Not in One

Styling attempts to make something look like something it isn't. Do you worry about what "style" your computer is? Certainly it is important that it is attractive and useful, but no one should want a Spanish Colonial-style DVD player, or a Victorian style digital camera.
Sure, buildings are different. Buildings need "curb appeal." Houses need to feel "homey." AAA agrees, but believes "good looks" do not come from a pre-determined aesthetic bias, but from a process that seeks to artfully apply contemporary technologies to serve present needs.
In the late 18th Century, when the Franciscans were establishing missions along the California coast, do you think they said, "what style do you suppose these things should be?" We don't think so.
