As part of the long-planned Hudson River Park, this 6 acre pier is to be converted to soley recreational uses. This design shows the addition of active and passive recreational uses while retaining most of the existing commercial uses. The existing roof would become an artificial beach with views of the river and the skyline. A new structure set within the current courtyard would provide a tree-spotted lawn and play courts. By contrasting environments of Play and Work we envision a more complex urban space that can simultaneously offer production and recreation.
